42nd Tokyo Motor Show 2011

JAMA is delighted to announce that the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show will be held from the 2nd to 11th of December, 2011 at Tokyo Big Sight.  This is the first time that the Tokyo Motor Show will have been held at Tokyo Big Sight, and will mark a great leap forward for the Motor Show.

From the 6th show in 1959 to the 27th show in 1987, the Tokyo Motor Show was held at the Tokyo International Trade Center in Harumi, Tokyo.  It then moved to Makuhari Messe in Chiba city, from the 28th show in 1989 to the 41st show in 2009, welcoming a total of 17 million visitors in this time.  The move back to Tokyo's urban area at Tokyo Big Sight marks the beginning of a new era for the 'reborn' Tokyo Motor Show.

The 42nd Tokyo Motor Show will offer a comprehensive display of automotive products and ideas, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, vehicle bodies, parts, machinery and tools.  Innovative features of the show which are being considered are the showcasing of proposals for the ideal future society surrounding cars and proposals for new automobile lifestyles and culture.  There will be a Carrozzeria exhibit and participation from the fields of advanced ICT (Information and Communication Technology), urban systems and environment/energy for a low-carbon society, where Japan is the global leader.

Major brands from Japan and abroad will participate at the Tokyo Motor Show, offering the opportunity to share information on the development of next-generation safety and environmental technologies.  Visitors will have the possibility to rediscover the appeal, joy and fun of cars and motorcycles by viewing, touching and riding the latest models.

The 42nd Tokyo Motor Show will run for 10 days from 2nd to 11th December, with Press days on the 30th November and 1st December, and Special Guest Day on the 2nd December.  Calls for exhibitors will begin from early September 2010.

With ten indoor exhibition halls stretched over 80,660m2, plus an outdoor exhibition area of 9,000m2 and a rooftop exhibition area of 6,000m2, Tokyo Big Sight welcomes over 10 million visitors every year.  JAMA is excited about the prospect of one of the biggest and best Tokyo Motor Shows ever, at a time when the global automotive industry needs to come together to address the twin challenges of environment and competitiveness.

As a leading global player in combating both the climate and economic concerns of the modern era, JAMA looks forward to displaying and discussing the industry's response to these challenges in the forum of the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show, and to welcoming participants, friends and consumers from across the globe to this groundbreaking event.
