Japanese Automakers' 2002 Overseas Production Statistics
[fourth quarter and yearly cumulative]

Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the fourth quarter of 2002 totalled 2,012,744 units, an increase of 20.8% over the same quarter the previous year. This is explained primarily by expanded overseas production in the Asian, North American and European markets.

Results for all of calendar 2002 (January-December) were also up from the previous year, rising 14.6% to 7,652,419 units, owing likewise to expanded local production.
