[Fourth Quarter and Yearly Cumulative]

Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the fourth quarter of 2003 totalled 2,294,751 units, an increase of 14.0% over the same quarter the previous year. This is explained primarily by expanded overseas production in the Asian, European and North American markets.

Results for all of calendar 2003 (January-December) were also up from the previous year, rising 12.5% to 8,607,563 units, owing likewise to expanded local production in the world's major markets.
