[4th Quarter and Yearly Cumulative]

Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the fourth quarter of 2004 totalled 2,603,925 units, an increase of 13.5% over the same quarter the previous year. This is explained primarily by expanded overseas production in the Asian and North American markets.

Results for all of calendar 2004 (January-December) were also up from the previous year, rising 13.8% to 9,797,551 units, owing likewise to expanded local production in the world’s major markets.
