Japanese Automakers' 2005 Overseas Production Statistics
[First Quarter and Yearly Cumulative]

Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the first quarter of 2005 totaled 2,397,816 units, an increase of 3.7% over the same quarter the previous year. This is explained primarily by expanded overseas production in the North American markets.

Results for fiscal 2004 (April 2004-March 2005) were up from the previous year, rising 11.3% to 9,883,674 units, owing to expanded local production primarily in the Asian and North American markets.
