October 26, 2005
Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the second quarter of 2005 totalled 2,726,067 units, an increase of 11.0% over the same quarter in the previous year. This is explained primarily by expanded overseas production in markets worldwide.
Results for the first half of calendar 2005 (January-June) were also up from the previous year, rising 7.5% to 5,124,317 units, owing to expanded local production in the world’s markets excepting Oceania.
