Japanese Automakers’ 2006 Overseas Production Statistics
[Second Quarter and First Half Cumulative]
Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the second quarter of 2006 totalled 2,691,065 units, a decrease of 1.3% over the same quarter in the previous year. This is explained primarily by decrease of overseas production in the North American, Asian and other markets.
Results for the first half of calendar 2006 (January-June) were up from the previous year, rising 5.6% to 5,413,076 units, owing to expanded local production in the Asian and European markets.
