Japanese Automakers’ 2006 Overseas Production Statistics
[Third Quarter and Three Quarters Cumulative]

Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the third quarter of 2006 totalled 2,704,785 units, an increase of 0.5% over the same quarter the previous year.  This is explained primarily by expanded overseas production in the world’s major markets except North America and Asia.

Results total for the three quarters of calendar 2006 (January-September) were also up from the previous year, rising 3.9% to 8,117,861 units, owing likewise to expanded local production in Asian and European markets.
