Japanese Automakers’ 2006 Overseas Production Statistics
[4th Quarter and Yearly Cumulative]

Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the fourth quarter of 2006 totalled 2,851,919 units, an increase of 2.2% over the same quarter the previous year.  This is explained primarily by expanded overseas production in European markets.

Results for all of calendar year 2006 (January-December) were also up from the previous year, rising 3.5% to 10,972,243 units, owing likewise to expanded local production in the Asian and European markets.
