Japanese Automakers’ 2008 Overseas Production Statistics
[2nd Quarter & 1st Half Cumulative of Calendar 2008]
Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the second quarter of 2008 totalled 3,096,118 units, an increase of 5.7% over the same quarter the previous year. This is explained primarily by expanded overseas production in the Asian markets.
Results for the first half of calendar year 2008 (January-June) were also up from the previous year, rising 6.8% to 6,232,099 units, owing likewise to expanded local production in the Asian markets.
