Japanese Automakers' 2008 Overseas Production Statistics
[3rd Quarter & Three Quarters Cumulative of Calendar 2008]
Overseas vehicle production by Japanese automakers in the third quarter of calendar year 2008 totalled 2,876,118 units, a decrease of 1.2% over the same quarter in the previous year. This is explained primarily by a decrease in local production in the North American market.
Results for the three quarters of calendar year 2008 (January-September) were up from the previous year, rising 4.1% to 9,108,773 units, owing mainly to expanded local production in the Asian market.
