Automobile Production Data for July 2004

Automobile production in July 2004 was recorded as 926,956 units. Compared with the 922,677 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 4,279 units or 0.5%, and production up on the same month of the previous year for two consecutive months.

Exports (result) stood at 113.5% as compared with the same month of the previous year.

The production total for the period from January 2004 through July 2004 stood at 6,233,069 units, up 175,489 units or 2.9% as compared with the production total of 6,057,580 units recorded in the same period of the previous year.

Motorcycle production in July 2004 was recorded as 134,351 units. This is 17,016 units or 11.2% down as compared with the 151,367 total registered in the same month of the previous year. It is also production down on the same month of the previous year after two months of upturn.

Automobile export in July 2004 was recorded as 450,263 units, up 53,619 units or 13.5% as compared with 396,644 units recorded for the same month of the previous year. It is an export increase on the same month of the previous year for five consecutive months.

Value of automobiles exported
The total value of automobiles exported was $9,645.07 million including $7,279.14 million for vehicles and $2,365.93 million for parts. This is an increase of $1,469.08 million or 18.0% compared with $8,175.99 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.

Motorcycle export in July 2004 was recorded as 92,942 units, up 7,728 units or 9.1% as compared with 85,214 units recorded for the same month of the previous year. It is an export increase on the same month of the previous year for two consecutive months.

Value of motorcycles exported
The total value of motorcycles exported for July 2004 was $400.09 million including $284.65 million for vehicles and $115.44 million for parts. This is an increase of $90.44 million or 29.2% compared with $309.65 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.
