Automobile production in January 2005 was recorded as 855,481 units. Compared with the 826,339 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 29,142 units or 3.5%, and production up on the same month of the previous year after two months of downturn.

Exports (result) stood at 96.4% as compared with the same month of the previous year.

Automobile export in January 2005 was recorded as 361,207 units, down 13,377 units or 3.6% as compared with 374,584 units recorded for the same month of the previous year. It is an export decrease on the same month of the previous year for two consecutive months.

Value of automobiles exported
The total value of automobiles exported was $7,924.69 million including $6,221.57 million for vehicles and $1,703.12 million for parts. This is a decrease of $147.89 million or 1.8% compared with $8,072.58 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.

Value of motorcycles exported
Total value of motorcycles exported for January 2005 was $735.31 million including $616.54 million for vehicles and $118.77 million for parts. This is an increase of $11.35 million or 1.6% compared with $723.96 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.
