Automobile production in May 2005 was recorded as 786,946 units. Compared with the 753,973 units total recorded for the same month of the previous year, this is an increase of 32,973 units or 4.4%, and production up on the same month of the previous year for five consecutive months.

Motorcycle production in May 2005 was recorded as 119,071 units. This is 8,311 units or 7.5% up as compared with the 110,760 total registered in the same month of the previous year. It is also production up on the same month of the previous year for two consecutive months.

Automobile export in May 2005 was recorded as 375,647 units, down 2,836 units or 0.7% as compared with 378,483 units recorded for the same month of the previous year. It is an export decrease on the same month of the previous year after four months of upturn.

Value of automobiles exported
The total value of automobiles exported was $8,575.80 million including $6,501.25 million for vehicles and $2,074.55 million for parts. This is an increase of $319.49 million or 3.9% compared with $8,256.31 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.

Motorcycle export in May 2005 was recorded as 74,965 units, up 3,201 units or 4.5% as compared with 71,764 units recorded for the same month of the previous year. It is an export increase on the same month of the previous year for two consecutive months.

Value of motorcycles exported
Total value of motorcycles exported for May 2005 was $451.83 million including $336.48 million for vehicles and $115.35 million for parts. This is an increase of $75.12 million or 19.9% compared with $376.71 million recorded for the same month of the previous year.
